Lions, Lionesses & Leos of 20Y2,

IP Sid Scruggs' theme for 2010-2011 is "A Beacon of Hope". He is asking each of us to "Shine our Light on" Youth (August), Vision (October), Relieving Hunger (December/January), and Protecting our Planet (April).

In keeping with his theme, my contest for this year will be based on these four themes. Points will be: 100 points per member for each youth project Clubs do. If the project is more than one day, you may count each day. Report date and number of members participating. 500 points for each pair of eyeglasses purchased or eye screening done. I am asking each Club to support their local Food Pantry by collecting food products and with financial donations. 500 points each for food donations with minimum of two donation during the year and 500 points for each financial donation with minimum of $100 each. Remember they need our help year round and not just during the Holidays. 1,000 point for each project you do to improve our planet. This could be roadside or rail trail cleanup or planting trees or plants.

I am sure that by now most of you have heard of MD20 redistricting. I can tell you now that this is real. We met July 18th in Binghamton with the committee. I will give the District full details on the redistricting plan at our first cabinet meeting in September.

I am honored to have been selected to serve as your District Governor this year. Working together, I know we are going to have a great year in 20-Y2.
